This has been a week of finishes for me. All week I have felt so behind, but in writing this post I realized I’ve gotten a lot done! So, let’s get to it and I’ll share my finishes.
First up is this witch-y bee block. Cindy asked for her block to be made with halloween fabrics in orange and purple, with black as a background. I must say, I am loving this block! I can’t wait to see the entire quilt together.
I also finished the quilting and binding on the quilt my sister sent to me to finish. I call it Birds & Butterflies because of the cute blocks in the quilt; I’m not really sure what she is going to name it. I really like having a stash of solids to use – I was happy to have the perfect solid to use for her binding.
Since we’re talking about bindings…..I finished both of the fleece football quilts this week. I started to attach the binding the way I normally do, by hand, but soon started worrying if that was a good idea given the stretchy-ness of the fleece. Sooooo, I had to find a easy and good looking way to machine bind these two quilts. I found this tutorial by Wasn’t Quilt in a Day and it worked beautifully. I’m so happy with the way the binding looks, especially since this was the first time I’ve attached a binding by machine.
Please ignore all the lint, I haven’t cleaned this one up yet.
And last, but certainly not least, hubby and I picked strawberries twice this week. I made 36 jars of jam and put seven quarts of berries in the freezer. We are on strawberry overload right now. Yum!
I think this has been a pretty productive week and I’m excited to have these projects finished. Next week I get to quilt a stained glass window wallhanging. I’m auditioning threads for it right now and will be ready to start soon.
Here’s a quick peak of the top. I’m thinking radiating lines from behind the cross in a shimmery thread. What do you think?
Have a great weekend everyone!

The stain glass quilt top looks wonderful!!!
Thanks for linking up with Pink Doxies, Beth. I agree the Halloween quilt is going to be a cute one. So glad you’ve come over to the dark side with your machine binding. Ain’t it great? I love knowing that when I’ve come down to binding as my last step, I’m very close to a real finish. Hand binding is not my forte, and this is quick and done. And then on to the next quilt, right?
Cheers to you for this sweater day the 1st of June!

I adore that Halloween block. It makes me want to go sew. You have made good progress. I need to go make some strawberry jam. We are down to the last jar.
Nice finishes Beth. I LOVE the bee block. Perfect fabric. If you were thinking of sharing any of that jam, I’d love some. We are getting into strawberry season here too, but everyone is gobbling them so fast, I can hardly put some aside for strawberry shortcake.
The binding looks great! How awesome that it went to well with your first try. 🙂
Nice quilt work. And those berries and the jams sound delicious.
