This week it’s all about the clams…..clam shells, that is. A while back I was playing around with some new FMQ rulers I purchased. Remember this piece?

That practice piece was the inspiration for a custom quilt order. Yay! My mother fell in love with the design when she saw it and asked me to make her a quilt. She wants a solid green quilt with clam shells and micro-stippling as an overall design. I was finally able to start on her project this week.

FMQ Ruler work Clam Shells

One shell at a time…

We found a beautiful leaf print from the Downton Abby Lady Edith collection to use on one side (sorry, no pic yet), and this coordinating Kona Celadon for the other side. I don’t want to say ‘front’ or ‘back’ because the quilt is going to be reversible. It is so difficult to photograph a solid print!

Right now I am making all the rows of shells, and then I will go back and stipple every other row. I think it will look amazing when it’s done. I am already loving the way it looks.

The green looks washed out here. Hopefully when it’s finished I will be able to get pictures that show the true color.

On a side note, I want to say thank you to everyone for your super kind words about my new pattern Snap, Crackle, Pop! The positive response has been overwhelming and I’m just so grateful to you. Thank you so much!

You can read more about the pattern here. As a reminder, it is on sale for $6 through November 15 in my Craftsy and Etsy shops and then will go to its regular price.
