I finished the flimsy for my DIL’s wallhanging, have the backing ready and the binding made. I thought I would get it quilted yesterday but guess what? I’m out of batting. I have a roll on order and it should be here soon so I put this project on the shelf until the batting arrives.
I’m also waiting on the fabrics I ordered for the two commissioned quilts I have to do. Just watch – batting and fabric will be delivered on the same day….
So while I had some time to kill I decided to see what I could do with the stack of triangles leftover from my most recent project (which I can’t show you yet).
I ended up with thirty-six 4″ HST’s and played around with the layout and came up with this sweet little mini quilt:
It measures 25×25 and is made entirely from scraps. Yay me! I don’t have enough binding left from the big project, so I’m going to have to make a scrappy binding. I do love a scrappy binding! Hopefully I’ll be able to get this one finished today.
Here’s a couple close-ups of the quilting detail:
I also had a sweet delivery the other day of all this goodness:
I immediately put it away because it would be too tempting to cut into and I knew I would get sidetracked from my commitments. BUT, since I’m still waiting on deliveries I’m allowed to start a new project, right?
So that’s what I did. I started cutting and I’ve now got all the fabric ready to piece. I’m excited about this one — I hope the plan in my head translates to the quilt! 🙂
That’s what I’m up to this week. I have to stop later today though because I’ve got pie to eat tomorrow and shopping to do on Friday! I hope you have a chance to do some sewing and I hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving! 🙂
I’m linking up with WIP Wednesday. Be sure to check out all the other great projects.
I love the flower you quilted in the white diamonds of your quilt, they turned out fabulously. Very yummy fabric delivery too 🙂
Happy Thanksgiving, Beth! That is a super fun mini quilt, and I hope the new quilt matches your vision perfectly. 🙂
I really like the fabrics in your mini quilt. Can’t wait to see what you’re going to do with the new fabrics.
I Love what you did with the scraps. I may have to copy you with some of my scraps.
such a cute piece and I love that it was made from scraps, way to go girl.
Beautiful quilting! That is one cute quilt. I love scrappy binding too. Have a great day!
