Okay guys and gals – today is a special Main Crush Monday and I’m so psyched! First I get to share with you a quilt I finished a while ago for the Fat Quarter Shop, and then you’ll have a chance to win a $25 Gift Certificate from them! How cool is that??
The Layers of Charm pattern is layer cake and charm pack friendly and is incredibly easy and fast. The free pattern (yes free!) includes instructions for a table runner, crib, lap, queen and king size quilts. For my lap quilt size version I used the Pedal Pushers layer cake (those prints are so fun!) and a Bella Solids in White charm pack.
The top went together in a couple of hours, and I basted and quilted it the next day. I had so much fun with the quilting! I didn’t do any marking and free-handed the entire thing.
Once I figured out the traveling pattern for the quilting I zipped right through it. This is a super fast finish if you need a quick gift or just want to do some easy and fun sewing.
There were plenty of leftover triangles, so I sewed them together and made this adorable mini quilt. It would also be a great doll quilt – wouldn’t this be a wonderful gift set for a little girl and her dolls?
The backing fabric is from the collection and is a vibrant raspberry color. Here’s a peek of the backing:
I’ve named the quilt Playtime because it has such a fun vibe to it and I think it’s adorable! 🙂
This quilt set is available in my Etsy shop.
If you would like your own copy of the Layers of Charm pattern, simply visit the FQS blog. You can also see a video tutorial by clicking on this link.
There is a blog hop going on to introduce the pattern – visit the FQS blog to see the other versions of this pattern.
Now for more fun! The Fat Quarter Shop has graciously offered to give one of you a $25 gift certificate to their store. YAY!! All you have to do to enter the giveaway is leave a comment here. I will leave the giveaway open until 12:00 EST (noon) Friday, February 13 and will announce the winner Friday evening. Good luck to everyone!
This is my MCM for this week – whew, big one! I would love to see what you’re working on or planning to do this week. I hope you will link up – here is how to do it:

I like the quilting you chose for the white squares – looks like a cathedral window. At the moment I am making 28 8ft long table runners for my friends wedding plus 44 long lengths of bunting.

Your quilts are delightful! I especially love the quilting on your miniquilt. Thanks for sharing your creations!
The little mini quilt is so pretty, and I would say, forget the doll quilt and use it as a wall hanging.
With 6 great granddaughters, I probably shouldn’t be saying things like that, but, honestly, I do make them doll blankets, only I use flannel for them, because they like the softness of the fabric.
