“Just another manic Monday..”

I’ve got those song lyrics stuck in my head but I’ve changed the words a bit: “Just another Main Crush Monday..” Can you say song worm?!

I’ve got so much to crush on this week I almost didn’t know where to start writing. I made a lot of progress last week, and I’m pretty excited about it.

First, I have almost finished the quilt top for my mother-in-law. All that is left to do is add the borders. This baby is BIG. Before borders, it measures 81 x 108. So I’m still thinking about the border and the size I’ll use.  It’s also time for me to start thinking about a quilting plan for this one, but I’m going to put it on the back burner for a while. I have several customer quilts that I seriously have to get started on, so I’m going to have plenty of time to let the ideas percolate.

To make this quilt I’m using a yet to be released pattern written by Tish of Tish ‘n’ Wonderland and I love the way it looks with these colors. I’ll have a lot more to share about this quilt when Tish is ready; until then you can have this one pic to tease you.

Large Quilt Blocks

Last week I had a special request to make a Wild Goose Chase block. I naively said “Sure, I’ll make it.”  Just let me say, it took me waaaaay longer than I expected so I’m very happy to have this project checked off my to do list! I’ve written a post about the making of this block, and as soon as I get a bit more sewing done I’ll share it with you.

Pretty block. Pain in the arse.

In traveling news: this week I’m so excited to visit my sister and guild friends in Pennsylvania. We’re going to the AQS show in Lancaster and doing our own mini shop hop. It will be four days of fun, laughter, food, and tons of quilty inspiration. I’m super, SUPER excited to go on that road trip.

Did I tell you how excited I am??

And last, but definitely not least, I have some fan-tab-u-lous news to share. Last year I designed a quilt and wrote the pattern for Star Bright, a wall hanging, that is published in the Summer, 2017 edition of Quilter’s World. The magazine hits the newsstands in April and I received my copy on Friday.

Quilters World

It was difficult to keep this quiet for so long, but now I can tell you so you can run right out and get your copy of the magazine. 🙂 I’m very proud of the wall hanging; everything came together just right – the design, the quilting, the fabric. I just love everything about it.

Whew! Isn’t that a lot of quilty goodness for one week?? Now it’s time to revisit a few of the link-ups from last week’s party – we need to check in on all the quilty inspiration you all shared!

First up is Helen of Midget Gem Quilts. She bravely cut her plus blocks into fours and rearranged them to create her red lemonade quilt. I like all the low volume fabrics and the overall look is just so summery.

Shannon of White Cloud Stitchery made a lovely quilt with this big liberty fabric star as the focal point. I’m so looking forward to seeing how she quilts all that negative space. For pictures of the finished top, hop on over to her blog!

And, if you’re looking for another project to add to your to do list, Sandra of mmm! quilts is hosting the Freefall QAL. Click on over to her blog (after you join the MCM party, of course 😉 ) because it’s not too late to join in!

Now it’s your turn! Please share those projects, tools, and/or fabrics that have you excited to be in your sewing space this week. You can link up any blog post, Instagram or Flickr pic – here’s how:
