I love Mondays. I know, that’s weird. A lot of people don’t like them since it means the start of a new work week. But that’s exactly why I love them. I get so excited to see what the week is going to bring. I will usually have my week planned: which projects I’ll be working on, what days I will be ‘out of the office’ but I don’t have such a strict schedule that I can’t move things around if something unexpected should come up.
Last week held some surprises that were quite unexpected and super exciting. Maybe this week there will be more. Or not. Who knows? See why I love Mondays?
Karen and I made progress on Jen’s t-shirt quilt. We got all the shirts cut and most of the stabilizer ironed on. We worked until we ran out of the stabilizer, so I left her with homework. She discovered the magic of a rotary cutter and I’m pretty sure she wants one now! 🙂 There were tears, but there was laughter and lots of talking – it was a good afternoon. In our next work session we will trim the shirts into blocks and then we’ll be ready to choose fabric for the sashing. Maybe I’ll remember to get pictures of our next get together…
I also finished the Pretty in Pink baby quilt. This was a fun and fast project, and I have the fabric cut to make a second one. I mean, if you’re cutting for one baby quilt it’s just as easy to cut for two, right?
I don’t have good pics of the finished quilt yet. Now that it gets dark so early it really cuts into my picture taking time. Hopefully I will get some shots today so you can see it tomorrow, along with more details on fabric used etc.
The back is a fabulously soft flannel. I need to make one of these for myself, only a lot bigger!
I even found time to visit one of our local quilt stores, Bolts & Quarters. The owner is a super sweet guy Brian, and the store manager is Warren. They are so fun to talk with and I always enjoy stopping in. Brian purchased print copies of my Snap, Crackle, Pop! pattern and will display the quilt in the store. To say I’m psyched is an understatement!
Finally, I stippled a few more of the clamshells on Mom’s quilt. She is *patiently* waiting for me to get this finished. It may take a little while, but every day brings progress.
The only thing on my weekend to do list that I didn’t get to was the new Craftsy class I enrolled in. That will have to happen later this week.
One more thing for this Main Crush Monday post (see how many crushes I have?) Soma @ Whims & Fancies will be holding an online quilt trunk show starting tomorrow, Nov. 10th. You can get all the details by visiting her introductory blog post here. I hope you’ll join in. There will be prizes from these sponsors: Cheryl from Meadow Mist Designs, Lorna from Sew Fresh Quilts, Beth from Cooking Up Quilts (that’s me!) Aurifil Threads, Craftsy and Fat Quarter Shop.
Whew! That’s what I’m crushing on this week. How about you? I would love to see what you are working on and has you excited to be in your sewing space. You can link up any blog post or Instagram or Flickr pic – here’s how:
