Hubby and I were out of town all weekend, and I have been without Internet service or cell phone service since Thursday. Whew! I’m happy to be home, and have a lot of catching up to do. So you can pretty much guess what I’ll be doing this week.
When we came home, I brought with me a quilt top from my sister that she asked me to quilt. It’s a rail fence design and the blue prints in this top are so pretty.
She doesn’t want a densely quilted pattern (drat!), just something that will keep the quilt soft and cuddly – but not a meandering stipple. I’m still tossing around some ideas, so if you have a suggestion I would love to hear it.
We had a busy but fun weekend. I didn’t do any sewing, so I’m anxious to get back into my sewing room this week. I feel like I’m having withdrawals!
I only have nine blocks left to quilt on my Checkered Past quilt. I might go back and add some quilting to the shoo fly blocks – those empty sashing spaces are calling to me!
I also have 10 gallons (yes, gallons!) of blackberries to make jam with and to put in the freezer for pies or cobbler. I’m pretty sure I see a pie happening sometime today – yum!
So that’s what I’m crushing on this week. I can’t wait to get started on my sister’s quilt, and I’m so close to having my quilt finished. Once those berries are done, I’ll be stitching away! How about you? I would love to see what you are working on or what has you excited to be in your sewing space. Remember, your crush can be anything sewing/quilting related – new fabric, a new tool, a new technique you’ve learned, or any project you are working on. Come join the party!

Looking forward to seeing how you quilt the Rail Fence. I bet the pie was delicious 🙂

Funny, but when I looked at your sister’s quilt, I remembered one I’d seen with huge feather designs that criss-crossed it. Not fancy, not echoed, not embellished with curlicues, just feathers going here and there. Big feathers. =) The blackberries make me entirely jealous. I love blackberries and they look so pretty canned in lovely jars. Did you pick them? Your quilt looks lovely as it is, yet I understand the desire to add more. It’s sort of like crazy quilting. When is it enough? =)
oh I want some blackberries!!! have fun quilting that quilt! its beautiful! and that checkered past quilt looks amazing!
I’m so jealous about the blackberries! I love blackberry cobbler, yummy. When I saw the quilt top I thought of either baptist fan or big large swirls. I would love to see it when you’re done.
10 gallons of blackberries? YUM! I hope you did make the pie and that it was delicious! Hmm, not too dense a pattern for your sister… I am thinking of some large swirls to help continue the sense of motion, but I’m not sold on my idea. 😉 I hope you have fun being back in your sewing room this week.
