Good Morning, Monday Main Crushers!
Today I’m sharing a sweet pink quilt made by Robin for her sweet granddaughter.

Isn’t it fabulous?
Robin asked for the quilting to be ‘something girly’, so I chose to use the Smitten digital design I used on the wedding quilt made by my sister. I mean, you can get more girly than swirls and hearts, right?

I really do like the way this design stitches out. It looks good big or small, or somewhere in between. I used a dark pink thread both top and bobbin, and it pops on the backing, which is grey swirl print.

I’m sure Robin’s granddaughter will love her new quilt. I know I do!
This was just one of the quilts I finished last week. I also quilted a monster that took up almost every inch of my 12 foot quilting frame. It measures 121″ x 128″!! I wasn’t able to get pictures for this post – it was after dark by the time I finished the trimming. I refer to is as ‘that beast of a quilt’ because it was so big and heavy. Every time I mentioned it my hubby knew exactly which quilt I was talking about. LOL
Students who took a class on ‘Painted Stars‘ were laying out their quilt blocks in class on Tuesday. I snapped a quick picture of Kam’s blocks before she starting putting them together. She is using the loveliest turquoise-y / blue / green batik fabrics.

This quilt will be so beautiful when it’s finished and I can’t wait to see it sewn all together! Kam and her friends have plans to make a red/white/blue version which I think will be just gorgeous. One of the ladies said to me “I like this pattern. It’s easy and fun, and I’m going to make more quilts with it.” That just made my day! It’s so nice to hear such lovely feedback on something I worked so hard on.
Let’s see what you’ve been working on! What has you excited to be in your sewing space? We would love to see. You can link any blog post, Instagram or Flickr pic – here’s how:
Oh it is peftect!! Great choice of quilting for that one!
Pretty (in Pink)!
Ooh, Beth — you have an APQS machine, right? I am SO RELIEVED to hear that you managed to get a 121″ x 128″ top quilted on your 12′ frame because my pineapple log cabin is 120″ square and I was feeling worried about whether it would fit on the frame and whether I’d be able to quilt all the way out to the border edges. Did you have to do anything special/different to quilt that “monster” quilt? I’d love to see a picture of it loaded on your frame, if you happened to take one at any point in the process. I know what you mean about the weight, too. I didn’t even get a picture of the completed quilt top because I was worried that holding the quilt top up by its borders would risk ripping from the weight of the heavily pieced interior of such a large top. That pink swirly hearts quilt is as sweet as cotton candy, by the way. 🙂
Beth, it’s an awfully pretty quilt! I can’t imagine having the patience to piece a quilt 121 x 128! Wow! Kam’s Painted Stars quilt is going to be so pretty!
Hi Beth, the pink quilt is really gorgeous – and so is your quilting! Your Painted Stars really looks good in that batik. Thanks for sharing it with us.
The painted stars blocks look fabulous. Thanks for sharing the pink quilt… such a simple pattern that works up as a terrific quilt. The thread color and design really work well on the quilt.
I’m a sucker for pink and this quilt hits all the high notes for me! I think you nailed the girly quilting perfectly!
Hi Beth! Oh, yes. I love that pink quilt. I am 100% certain that Robin’s granddaughter will just adore this quilt. And I think the quilting pattern you chose is just perfect for a sweet little girl. ~smile~ Roseanne
Pretty pink quilt; it just makes one happy looking at it. Can’t wait to see the beast (will we get to?). Those stars are very pretty!
That is lovely and you couldn’t have chosen a more fitting design to quilt it.
My granddaughter would love that pink quilt, too! The digital design you chose adds the perfect touch, along with the dark pink thread! Awesome!
Definitely pink and definitely pretty, perfect for a little girl who loves pink. Mine never did. The batik stars look great. Hope your stitching on the “beast” goes well this week.
