Every year the WV Quilters (our state guild) hosts the WV Quilters Festival quilt show. It’s a large show held at the Summersville Arena and Conference center in the southern part of the state. Summersville is a beautiful area, with a large lake and lots of fun summer activities. It’s a wonderful place to spend some time, and having a quilt show to visit is an added bonus.
A few months ago I decided to challenge myself and enter a couple of quilts. Remember the grunge/William Morris quilt I made several months ago? You can read about it here, here, and here. I decided I would enter that quilt and pushed myself to get the quilting finished. I took my time with it, did a lot of unpicking, and was extra careful with the stitching. I really enjoyed working on this quilt and playing with the different quilting designs and am so pleased with the finished project.
Apparently the judges were pleased with it too.
Ack! Can you believe that? This little quilt that started with two freebie charm packs and had to be redesigned because I was too tight to buy a little more grunge fabric won first place in its category!
It was so fun to walk down the aisle, see it hanging there, and then realize there was a ribbon attached to it! The official name of the quilt is “A Little Less Grunge”. Kate (Life in Pieces) suggested the name and it kinda stuck. It’s a good name – thanks Kate!
The second quilt I entered came home ribbon-less, but I still love it. I will be sharing it with you a little later, as it is also my newest pattern. I’m still trying to find just the right name for it. Naming quilts and quilt patterns can be so difficult sometimes!
So that’s my short and sweet crush for Main Crush Monday! Now it’s time for you to link up yours and share what has you excited to be in your sewing space. You can link any blog post, Instagram or Flickr pic – here’s how:

Well deserved ribbon! Your quilt and quilting is beautiful and so happy you were awarded a ribbon for your hard work.
Hi Beth, congratulations! You never know how it will turn out.The quilting is really gorgeous. Good for you for challenging yourself. It sure paid off!
Congrats on your ribbon, Beth! It was well deserved! It was great running into you, one of the highlights of my day 🙂
Congratulations on a well deserved ribbon! Your fantastic quilting had to be the reason, well done!!
Oh! Congratulations!! I’m so excited for you!! Good luck on your name game! I often spend more time trying to think of a name than on writing the pattern! Lol!
Congratulations! I loved this quilt when you originally posted your finish and the close ups of the quilting, so I’m so glad it won some recognition at your show too. Well done. 🙂
Your quilt is beautiful, and the quilting is stunning! A well-deserved ribbon. It’s amazing how much we can stretch our creativity when we don’t quite have what we think we need for a project. No one would ever know that the quilt didn’t follow your original plan. It’s lovely.
Wow, your first time entering a quilt show and you brought home a blue ribbon?! It’s a gorgeous quilt that deserves its ribbon. All that patience and care paid off!
Congratulations Beth! The time and skill you put into this quilt was amazing so you were most deserving of this award.
The quilting on that project makes all the difference. It is so lovely!
Congrats, so awesome, and yes I can believe it got a ribbon!! Looking forward to seeing the next one.
Congratulations! Your quilting is exquisite! Aren’t you glad you finished the quilt in time?
What a fun time and congratulations!!
Congratulations, Beth! What an exciting moment to see the ribbon on your quilt. I love playing the “name game” for quilts, and I hope you find just the right name for your new pattern.
Congratulations!! It must be so exciting to see it hanging and then realize you won!
Congratulations on your first place ribbon! How exciting! Sometimes doing a more with less is good – and in this case – perfect!! Awesome design. Looking forward to seeing the new quilt!
congratulations! you must be so pleased
Congratulations, Beth! Your quilt is beautiful—the quilting is fabulous ❤️ I wish I could see it in person.
Wow! Congratulations! You deserve that BLUE ribbon…this quilt is gorgeous 🙂
Oh, I can totally believe a first place win with that quilt! I love it! Can’t wait to see the second one too. Congratulations!
Congrats on the ribbon! I agree naming quilts is hard. I’m not sure why, but it always seems easier to come up with names for other’s quilts than it is to come up with one for my own.
Congratulations on your ribbon! The quilting is beautiful, and the name oh, so appropriate. Looking forward to seeing your other quilt!
