Welcome to Main Crush Monday, and Happy Memorial Day! If you’re celebrating today I hope you have a day full of fun, family, and friends.
I didn’t get much quilting done last week. In the early part of the week I fought with a stomach bug, and then we had family in for the weekend. It was a great end to a not so good week.
One thing I do want to share with you is this fantastic chalk marker I discovered last week.
Have you guys seen this? It is the coolest thing! It looks like a small lipstick, and holds powdered chalk. The thin end has a built in roller that dispenses chalk as you draw with the tip. Soo much better than trying to mark with some of the other chalks on the market now. I used it when marking lines to quilt on an overnight bag I’m making and it worked beautifully. I didn’t take pictures when using it, but will try to get some for you.
This marker is refillable, and comes in white, yellow, blue, and pink. I have the white one and haven’t tried the other colors. It is definitely my crush for this week’s MCM!
I also thought I would share pics of some of my favorite people that we got to spend time with this past weekend. 🙂

My niece Michelle and her daughter Jenny.

My sister Melissa and her grandson Koy.
It’s been a busy couple of days, but so worth falling into bed worn out at the end of the day. There’s just nothing better than sloppy kisses, fierce hugs, and lots of toddler giggles!
Now it’s your turn to share what you are crushing on this week. You can link up any blog post, Instagram or Flickr pic – here’s how:

I have one of those chalk markers too, it is really the best I have found for marking dark fabrics.
I’m so glad you’re feeling better and enjoyed your family weekend!
I’m glad you got over the stomach bug; that doesn’t sound like a fun week but the weekend sure seems to have made up for it. How does your machine do with the chalk? I’ve always worried it would be hard on my machines to add dust and grit to them but maybe I’m just over thinking it.
Glad things improved for you! I love those chalk wheels. Great for all kinds of sewing.
Yes, I’ve used one of the chaco markers for years!! It is my go-to chalk because the line is so thin.
Hi Beth,
Those markers are my favorite as well. I love how easy the white is removed. I usually only mark a small area at a time for that reason sometimes they fade before I’m through. I picked up a blue one also and the chalk removes easily but a blue residue stayed behind. It will probably wash out, but I was scared so I changed over to a blue water soluble marker for those areas and just sprayed them off
Hi , thanks so much for sharing that tip. We are always on the look out for ways to mark fabric safely. Yes, isn’t family the best!
Yes, those markers are wonderful. Glad you are on the mend. No fun not being able to sew!
Love those markers – they make nice, crisp, sharp lines!
I use my chaco markers when I make clothes. No worries if the chalk doesn’t come off because it’s usually in the seam allowance!
Glad you are feeling better, Beth! I have seen these markers, but have never tried them! Thanks for sharing.
I have been using that market with blue chalk for my marking and had the problem of it not coming out on one of my latest quilts. Ugh!! Lesson learned! I’ve heard the white is ok but then again, when you are marking on white fabric its hard to see.

Hi Beth! I just used that chalk marker and it does work fabulously! I’ve heard you can refill it with baby powder (!!) and that the blue and yellow chalk may not come out as easily as the white does. I just shared a post on this myself. And you can get it at Joann’s with a coupon, too. Happy Memorial Day! ~smile~ Roseanne
I have a chalk wheel and I use it a lot. Great tool! 🙂
Glad you were feeling better by the time your family arrived. I have been using Chaco markers for a while and like them very much although I did have an incident with the grey chalk not coming out of a particular fabric!
