Yesterday I spent some much needed time in my sewing room cleaning it up. I’m in a major decluttering kind of mood, so it felt good to get everything put in its place and have clean cutting and sewing tables. π
After my work was done I wanted to sew something, but I didn’t want a big involved project or one that would have me messing up my clean room!
I’ve been moving two star blocks out of my way for a while now, so I decided to put borders on the one shown above and play with some FMQing. I had so much fun! This is the first sewing I’ve done in a long time that was just for me and I had the most enjoyable afternoon, just playing around. Β To top it off, I ended up with the cutest mini quilt to hang in my sewing room. π
I love how this little quilt looks. I stitched in the ditch around the star shapes first, then did matchstick quilting in the background areas to make the star pop. It’s amazing how puffy that star is!
That quilting texture is so yummy….
After I trimmed and squared the block I flipped it over and saw the back. Look at that!
It is almost as cool as the front.
This little sweetie will be hanging in my sewing room soon. Quilty Sister went a little gaga over this mini, so she might be getting one sometime soon. And I’ll be doing more of this fun sewing more often!

Great mini quilt!! don’t ya love ’em? It’s a nice addition to just having these quilts on beds and hanging over sofas. More reasons to quilt! Love the match stitch quilting.
What a fun project to do for self! Colors are beautiful but quilting tops it off.
It’s beautiful! I love the quilting you chose for it, and the back is just as fabulous as the front! Thanks for linking to TGIFF.
Wow what a beautiful piece. Your quilting is fantastic and really brings it to life.
I just took a day to make a mini, too! I think they are a fun way to be creative and have a quick finish. I love how your quilting looks on the back. π
You are right. The back is as amazing as the front. I really like how the diamond floats in the center of the star.
Oooh, Beth, what a wonderful play! Your little quilt looks great, and the back – wow, I love seeing every detail. I’m SO glad you took a day to play, and then shared. =)
