Hi all – Happy Mother’s Day to you! I spent last evening with my Mom and sister…..it was prom night for my niece so we had to do all the girly things and then watch the promenade. It was a lot of fun. Dinner afterwards made for a late night, but hey, those are the best right?
As promised, today I’m sharing the pattern I purchased in support of #MayIsForMakers. The pattern is an applique block called Flower Box written by Leanne of Devoted Quilter.

So, you know me and applique! I’m definitely not good at it but am trying to learn. I liked this pattern when Leanne released it in December but wasn’t quite ready to jump in and make it. Now is the perfect time for me to give it a go.
Leanne put four of the blocks together and made a mini quilt. She used just one block for the pillow above. I think a mini might be doable so that is my goal. Just need to get some fabrics picked out and then I’ll be ready to try.
I first met Leanne during the 2014 New Quilt Blogger’s Blog Hop. It has been so much fun watching her grow as a blogger and pattern designer. Leanne writes a Devotion post every Monday and I enjoy reading those. She’s also started her first Mystery Quilt Along called Just The Basics – it’s not too late to join in!
Now for a public service announcement. π
Do you love Cotton & Steel?
Craftsy is having a Fat Quarter frenzy sale and this box of C&S is included. 40 fat quarters for $54.97. Β That’s half price and only $1.37 per fat quarter! If C&S is your thing then this box is for you.
Come back tomorrow – we’re going to have a celebration! I hope you have a great day today. π
Have fun with your new pattern. It’s always good to learn new techniques, but I have to admit I’ve been putting off learning that particular technique. Your niece looked stunning for her Prom. Hope she had a wonderful time.
How awesome! I look forward to seeing your interpretation of Leeanne’s pattern. π
What a great pillow. I will check Leanne’s blog out.
Very cute pillow! I really like the swirls.
I’m so honoured you chose my pattern, Beth, and I know you can do the applique! I can’t wait to see what you make. Thank you so much for your sweet words, too π
