MCT doesn’t have a ring to it like MCM does, but this is a special week so we are rolling with it. 🙂
Today is Main Crush Tuesday!
Remember when I showed you the Fairy Frost fabrics from Michael Miller I was playing with? I chose those colors to make a baby size version of my Floating pattern.
Many people don’t use traditional red/green colors to decorate for the Christmas holiday. These silvery blues, teals, and greens are an optional color choice and are very ‘in’ right now. Because I included this pattern in the Christmas in July Bundle sale, I wanted to show what it would look like using a different color palette. I have to say, I am in love with these fabrics.
Can you see the sheen on the back? I know this may sound weird, but this quilt even feels cool to the touch when I pick it up. I used Glide thread in Cool Grey, and the thread adds another element of shine. I’m usually not a shiny kind of girl, but I gotta say, I might be a convert now!
For the quilting, I did a lot of outline quilting and added ghost boxes. Many thanks to Tish for suggesting that on another quilt – I used her idea here. I did a lot of marking but I would definitely do it all over again. For filler I used a simple back and forth design. I’m pretty pleased with the quilting…
Here’s a better shot of how the quilting looks on the back:
How about a picture with some pretty flowers?
And finally, a beauty shot. 🙂
You can get your own copy of the Floating pattern, along with 22 other patterns when you buy the Christmas in July bundle. The sale ends Thursday at 3:00 pm, so don’t miss out!
Now that you know what I’m crushing on, let’s see your crushes. Last week, there were so many great projects. Here are the highlights of a couple in case you missed them:
First, Dave is a new quilter/blogger and new to our linky party. Hearing a man’s point of view on quilting is so fun – be sure to check out his blog. One of his first quilts:

Lisa was able to pull together three quilts from donated blocks for Quilts for Pulse. These are so pretty – I love this picture! Thank you for doing this Lisa.

And finally, Soma of Whims & Fancies is crushing on a Lego Harry Potter Quilt Along she will be hosting. If that is your thing, hop over to her blog for all the details. The QA starts on July 28, so you’ve got time to get ready!

Now, what has you excited to be in your sewing space this week? You can link up any blog post, Instagram or Flickr pic – here’s how:

Beautiful color combination! Thanks for hosting the linky party. I will have to check out the Harry Potter Quilt Along. My son learned to read because of the Harry Potter series. I started reading the first two books out loud to him and by the third one he was reading it to me. Karen
The Floating pattern looks fabulous in that colourway! Such a lovely finish 🙂
And Thank You so much for mentioning the Harry Potter Quilt Along!!!

I LOVE all those ghost squares! They are perfect for this quilt. (I need to remember to email you a picture later to get your opinion) I love the shine in the Fairy Frost fabrics. I’m using yellow in my Meadow Mystery quilt. I’m a sucker for shinny things 🙂
What a beautiful color combination for Floating! And pictured with the purple petunias is fabulous! Thanks for the party!
I hope the sale is going well for you, Beth. I love how you used the Fairy Frost in this quilt. 🙂
I used to have some Fairy Frost fabric – I bet I still have some scraps around some place
It was a nice surprise to see my photo in your picks from last week, but I’m in good company with Dave and Soma. I love the colours in your quilt Beth. The pattern package is looking very tempting.
Very pretty! Love the shine, colors and the quilting is gorgeous. Congrats on a lovely finish.
